Lawless, the new film from Australian director John Hillcoat, has a soundtrack worked on by Nick Cave and Warren Ellis. Featuring other artists like Emmylou Harris, Ralph Stanley, and Mark Lanegan, it’ll be released on September 7, 2012, through Sony Music.
PAUL BANKS
Interpol vocalist/guitarist Paul Banks is getting ready to release his second solo album, Banks. Leaving his Julian Plenti alter-ego behind, it will be out on October 19, 2012, through Matador and Remote Control.
COLLARBONES
Australian duo Collarbones are set to release their second album, Die Young, very soon. Following teen crushes and naive, adolescent, tales of the heart, it’ll be out September 28, 2012, via Two Bright Lakes and Remote Control.
WOODS
New York group Woods are about to return with their seventh album, Bend Beyond. Seeing the band bring the darkness inherent in their music to the forefront, you’ll be able to hear Bend Beyond on September 14, 2012, through Woodsist and Remote Control.
WE ARE THE OCEAN
After the departure of vocalist Dan Brown earlier this year, British band We Are The Ocean have got a new line-up and are close to releasing their third album. Maybe Today, Maybe Tomorrow is out on September 21, 2012, through Shock Records.
OZOMATLI
Hailing from Los Angeles, Latin/funk/hip-hop group Ozomatli are gearing up to release their next album, Ozokidz. It’ll be out September 28, 2012, via Breakaway Recordings.
KORA
After four years, New Zealand band Kora are about to release their second album, which they’ve described as ‘alien funk’. The five-piece will release Light Years on October 26, 2012, via Remote Control.
THE COUP
Musical collective The Coup are just about to release their latest album. Featuring vocalist, writer, and activist Boots Riley, alongside a whole handful of other talented musicians, the seven-piece will release Sorry To Bother You on November 2, 2012, through Anti- Records.
THUS:OWLS
Thus:Owls are getting ready to release their sophomore album Harbours. Husband and wife, Erika and Simon Angell are the main creative drivers in the group, although there are other musicians who jump in on their productions and live performances. Harbours is out October 2, 2012, through Avalanche/Hoob Records/Almost Musique.
SARAH HUMPHREYS
After the 2008 release of her debut album, singer-songwriter Sarah Humphreys is just about ready to release her second full-length album. Hello will be out September 21, 2012, through ABC Music and Mushroom Music Publishing.
BOYS NOIZE
Alex Ridha, also known as Boys Noize, is getting close to releasing his third album. After spending time producing records for artists like Scissor Sisters and Santigold, Ridha decided to work on his own material. Out of the Black will be out October 12, 2012, on Pod via Ineretia

Grandaddy’s Jason Lytle has announced the release of his latest solo album. It’s the follow up to 2009’s Yours Truly, the Commuter. Dept. Of Disappearance will be out October 19, 2012, through ANTI-.
CONVERGE
Converge are preparing to release their eighth full-length album, the follow up to 2009‘s Axe to Fall. Recorded and mixed by guitarist Kurt Ballou, All We Love We Leave Behind is out October 12, 2012, on Epitaph. Check out opening track “Aimless Arrow” below.
DONALD FAGEN
Donald Fagen’s fourth solo album is less than two months away from being released. His first three solo albums completed his “Nightfly Trilogy” project, so this next release will mark a new point in his continuing musical career. Sunken Condos is out October 19, 2012, through Reprise Records.
ALL TIME LOW
Pop-punk four-piece All Time Low have just announced details regarding their fifth full-length album, the latest since 2011’s Dirty Work. Don’t Panic is out October 12, 2012, through Hopeless / UNFD in Australia and New Zealand. The band will also be in Australia early 2013 to play Soundwave.
ISRAEL KAMAKAWIWO’OLE
Hawaiian musician Israel Kamakawiwo’ole, also known as Iz, will have his career and life celebrated with a release this September. A CD will feature some of his greatest hits, while a DVD will explore his life with help from people that knew him best. It will feature live performances, alongside stories and rare interviews. Somewhere Over The Rainbow - The Best of Israel Kamakawiwo’ole is out September 14, 2012, through Mountain Apple Company.
TALL SHIPS
The increasingly popular British band Tall Ships are set to release their debut album later this year. Everything Touching is out October 8, 2012, via Big Scary Monsters and Blood And Biscuits.

Based in Brooklyn, and led by its founding members Robert Toher and Austin Stawiarz, ERAAS is an atmospheric quartet who are getting ready to release their first album. Their self-titled debut LP is out on October 1, 2012, through Felte.
KRISTA POLVERE
After the release of her 2008 debut, Here Be Dragons, Krista Polvere is now set to release her new album. Reservoir Drive is out October 26, 2012, through Footstomp Music.
MINISTRY OF SOUND
Are you ready to dance away those winter blues? Ministry of Sound are close to releasing this year’s Clubbers Guide To Spring 2012. Sydney’s Goodwill and Melbourne’s Chardy have mixed this edition, including tracks from Miike Snow, The Presets, and The Temper Trap. You can find it in stores September 7, 2012, through Ministry of Sound.
EMANUELE DE RAYMONDI
Italian avant-garde composer and sound artist Emanuele de Raymondi is getting ready to release his new album. Buyukberber Variations is an exploration of the improvisations of Oguz Buyukberber, and is out October 9, 2012, through Zerokilled Music.

Stone Sour have announced details of the first instalment of their forthcoming double album. House of Gold & Bones Part 1 is set to be released on October 19, 2012, through Roadrunner Records. BOOMGATES
Melbourne band Boomgates have just released their debut album. Featuring members of Eddy Current Suppression Ring and Dick Diver, amongst a slew of other acts, the band have already played a handful of shows and released three 7” singles. BAND OF FREQUENCIES
Surf roots rockers Band of Frequencies are gearing up to release a new album later this year. Rise Like The Sun is set for release on October 8, 2012, through Low Pressure Productions (Ubiquity Records/Vitamin Records).
THE DOORS
After being remixed and mastered using the original multi-track tapes, The Doors’ concert Live At The Bowl ’68 is getting a release. It will feature three previously unreleased tracks from the gig. Available on CD, digitally, and a double-LP from Warner Music Australia, and on DVD, Blu-ray, and digital video from Shock Entertainment, it will be out on October 26, 2012.

Melbourne five-piece Minibikes are getting close to releasing their debut LP. For Woods Or Trail is out September 14, 2012, and will be launched on Saturday, October 6, at The Northcote Social Club.

Canadian band Danko Jones are just about to release their latest album. Rock And Roll Is Black And Blue is out October 9, 2012, through Bad Taste Records. Tour dates for Australia will be announced soon.
SMOKE & JACKAL
Jared Followill (Kings of Leon) and Nick Brown (Mona) have teamed up to work together as Smoke & Jackal. Their six-track debut EP, EP1, is out on October 12, 2012, via RCA Records.
TOMMY BOLIN
Tommy Bolin will have his solo release The Ultimate Teaser released as a box set. The 3CD collection will include a remastered version of the album, alongside 2 CDs of outtakes and alternates. It’ll be available on September 7, 2012, on 429 Records through Universal Music Australia.
VELOCIRAPTOR
Brisbane band Velociraptor are preparing to release a new mini-LP. It’ll be released on special edition vinyl and digitally. They’re also touring around the east coast of Australia, and playing their first Adelaide show, through October. Their mini-LP The World Warriors is out September 7, 2012, via Create/Control.
CITY RIOTS
After the release of their EP Matchsticks in late 2011, City Riots are back with a debut full-length album. Sea of Bright Lights is set for release on October 26, 2012, in Australia and New Zealand through Inertia.
KISHI BASHI
Kishi Bashi has recently announced details regarding his debut solo album. Moving away from his classical roots, the album is said to have an “avant/electro-pop” spin to it. 151A is out October 12, 2012, on Pod through Inertia
RINGO DEATHSTARR
Austin TX trio Ringo Deathstarr have announced the follow up to their 2011 LP Colour Trip. The band gained a lot of attention during their performances at SXSW 2011, proving themselves to be artists to watch. Mauve is out September 25, 2012, via Sonic Unyon Records.
THE SAINTS
The Saints are getting ready to release their latest album in what’s proven to be an extensive career. Their new album King of the Sun is out September 24, 2012, through Highway 125. It includes a bonus disc of classic Saints material.
GALLOWS
UK punk band Gallows have announced details surrounding their next release. Their third and self-titled album will be out on September 10, 2012, through Venn Records (in partnership with [PIAS] Recordings). A special edition version of the album will come with a DVD documentary covering the band over the past few months.
JASON COLLETT
Broken Social Scene member Jason Collett is getting ready to release his latest album, alongside a ‘best of’ collection. Reckon is out on September 21, 2012, through Arts & Crafts, and will come with Essential Cuts - a selection of the best songs from Collett’s career.
MONO
Japanese instrumental rock quartet MONO are getting very close to releasing their sixth studio album. For My Parents is out September 7, 2012 (Australia/NZ), through Valve/MGM.
BITCH PREFECT
Adelaide trio Bitch Prefect have just released their debut LP after a national tour supporting it. The 12-track album Big Time is out now on Fuse/Bedroom Suck Records.
CHRIS ROBINSON BROTHERHOOD
The Chris Robinson Brotherhood only released their debut Big Moon Ritual in July, but they’re already getting ready to release the companion album to it. The Magic Door is out on September 7, 2012, on Silver Arrow/Megaforce. The exclusive Australian edition will contain 3 extra tracks.
SOUND OF SEASONS
Sydney band Sound of Seasons have announced the release of their debut 7 track EP. Make Believe is out September 21, 2012, through MGM. They’ve also announced an extensive Australian tour through September and October.

Western Australian artist Mama Kin has just announced details of her new album, which will follow up her debut album Beat and Holler. The Magician’s Daughter is due out early 2013, through MGM Distribution.
KYLIE AULDIST
Kylie Auldist, known for her work with The Bamboos, is getting ready to release her third solo album. Still Life is due out on October 15, 2012, through Tru Thoughts. The first single from the album, “Counting On You”, will be out on September 17.
DICK DESERT
Brisbane artist Dick Desert and his “country punk” band have announced their third album. A Trucker’s Missus Opera is out on September 17, 2012, on iTunes and other digital outlets.
FACES
Faces may have only released four studio albums over five years, but the mark they left behind on the rock landscape was much larger. Stay With Me: Faces Anthology is a two-disc collection spanning their career, mixing studio favourites with a few unreleased live performances. It’s out October 5, 2012, through Warner Music.
RY COODER
Intended as a “wakeup call” as the U.S. presidential election looms, Ry Cooder’s latest album, Election Special, is out now through Warner Bros/Nonesuch/Elektra. Cooder wrote all of the songs (with one co-written with Joachim Cooder), and produced the album.
HANSON
After a 7-year absence, and just ahead of a nearly sold out Australian tour, Hanson have revealed details regarding the release of their fifth studio album. Shout It Out will be out digitally on September 7, 2012 (Australia), on 3CG Records.
THE DEVIL WEARS PRADA
Metalcore band The Devil Wears Prada have announced their first ever live CD/DVD. Dead & Alive is out October 12, 2012, through Roadrunner Records.

Australian rockers Grinspoon have revealed details for their seventh studio album. Named after Cockney slang for bad habits, Black Rabbits is set for release on September 28, 2012, through Universal. It’s their first album since 2009’s Six To Midnight.

Taylor Swift is getting ready to release her fourth studio album. Unlike her previous album, which she wrote entirely on her own, this one will see her collaborate with artists, songwriters, and producers that she’d been aspiring to work with.
